Backhousia myrtifolia - CINNAMON MYRTLE
Bushy tree that is more a temperamental shrub in Victoria. I must admit, in Phillip Island, where I live, I'm not having much luck. We have very sandy, saline soil here though and I fear this plant does not appreciate it. I must invest more time into correcting my soil. The leaves can be used fresh or dried in food and drinks.  When crushed the leaves smell and taste of cinnamon. Endemic Range Rainforests of Queensland and Northern New South Wales. Flowers Summer (December

Backhousia citriodora - LEMON MYRTLE
One of my favorite plants. The leaves can be used to flavour food or in a tea. There are many health benefits to the leaves including antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. Plant is perfect in a pot and loves a hard prune back to avoid going leggy. Endemic Range Sub-tropical rainforests of Southeastern Queensland. Flowers Summer to Autumn (December - May) Fruit Spring (September to November)
